This session is designed to immerse children in a vibrant, nature-inspired environment that engages their sensory systems.

The goal is to support children’s learning and growth through hands-on interaction with natural elements. Participants will take part in a variety of activities that encourage sensory exploration, allowing them to see, touch, smell, hear, and even taste different aspects of the natural world.

Objectives:

  • Promote Sensory Development: Offer opportunities for children to engage all five senses—sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell— this is important because our sensory system affects the way we interact with our environment.

  • Encourage Connection with Nature: Help children develop a greater appreciation for the natural world through hands-on learning experiences.

  • Support Social Interaction: Enable cooperative play and communication among children as they participate in group activities. Through these sensory-rich experiences in a natural environment, children can build vital skills while benefiting from the therapeutic effects of outdoor play.

Important Notes:

Allergies: We take allergies seriously and will cater to ensure the safety of you and your child. Wild Wanderers is a nut-aware zone.

Supervision: For the safety and well-being of all attendees, it is essential that you supervise your child throughout the event. Please do not leave your children unsupervised at any time.

Small Parts: Some sensory play activities may contain small parts that can be a choking hazard. Please ensure you are watching your little ones closely to avoid putting small parts in their mouth.

What to Bring: Please bring the essentials for yourself and your child - this could be a hat, sunscreen, rain jacket, snack and water bottle. We also recommend bringing a picnic rug if you’d like to pause for a little morning tea / lunch. Your little one might get a bit messy, so be sure to bring a change of clothes for them!

Play with Care: We take pride in providing top-quality toys and resources at Wild Wanderers. We kindly ask you to be mindful of gentle play to prevent any accidental breakages and to check pockets before leaving.

Materials: Non-toxic ingredients are used for all activities, however they are not made to be eaten. Please avoid letting your children consume products.

Prams: Risingholme Park is pram-friendly.

Toilets: Public toilets are available at this location.

Changes: If the session needs to be cancelled for any reason, it will be postponed to a later date. If you’re unable to make it, please let us know as soon as possible so we can give your place to someone else.
